What It’s Like to Work with Marvelous Woodworking

At Marvelous Woodworking, the process behind all of our projects rests solely on the relationship we build with our clients. Although we are first contacted via phone or email, each project does not begin until we have a face-to-face meeting with the homeowners. It is here where we are able to fully understand their needs and to tease out the details that are most important to them. It is this personalized focus that allows us to create exactly what our clients desire.

The First Meeting:

We find that most of our clients have an idea of the design they are looking for, and have pictures as examples. However when they don’t we are happy to guide them. During our first meeting we walk through the space where we will be building, noting the structural details that limit the feasibility of the project. Corners, windows, outlets and doorways all complicate what many homeowners see as a simple project. Engineering is always a part of a large undertaking, and understanding the implications of these features helps us determine feasibility and budget.

We also take a look at the rest of their home, noting the architecture and style. When we build a project, our goal is to make it look like it was original to the house. The new must fit with the old to create a cohesive look. We find this approach leads to very happy customers.

The Second Meeting:

Our second meeting consists of finalizing the design details. We help choose wood species, molding or cabinetry styles, colors – all of the elements needed to create what our clients envision. We have access to resources that homeowners do not, enabling us to offer a great number of options to create a truly unique look. We also talk them through the logistics of their project, and answer all of their questions.

After all of these decisions are made, the project is put on the schedule. We are usually 4-6 weeks out after designs are finalized.

Installation:

During the build, we are in constant communication with our clients. If we are going to be in their home, we let them know when we will arrive and when we are leaving each day. The straight-forward, comfortable conversations we had in our first two meetings continue through the entire project. Hiccups happen – it’s how you deal with them that speaks to the success of a project. We are always upfront about issues that arise, and work hard to come to a mutually beneficial compromise. Each client receives full attention when their project comes up and we stay until completion. We will never leave a job to go work on another. It is important to “get in the zone” on each project so we can focus on its particular needs and details.

Completion:

Our projects are not complete until our clients are happy. Giving attention to detail throughout the project, we end up with a final product the homeowners were looking for. At the collection of the final payment, we make sure to discuss the care and maintenance expectations, and remind them that we are always available for questions and callbacks. We love to share our expertise!

We respect the fact that we are part of our community, and value the relationships we create with our clients. We are honored with their repeat business and referrals, and enjoy our lasting relationships with them.
